BDC Radio redesign

A new home for local radio. The bdcradio.com redesign brings eight station profiles, six live streams, shows, sports scores, and community news together, with a player that keeps the music going as listeners explore.

Behind the broadcast

A fast Astro website connects to a Django backend for station information, schedules, and sports scores. Staff manage the platform through a central admin, while AzuraCast and Icecast deliver the audio.

Keeping it current

Celery workers and Redis support background jobs that poll stream data every minute, recording listener counts and stream status. A metadata bridge brings in song and show information from broadcast equipment; the website refreshes scores every 30 seconds while visible.

A voice for the community

The shared backend also powers weekly audience polls for the News Now sites. Reusable WordPress embeds connect voting and results to centrally managed polls, with reporting tools for staff.
